Forest area & ownership: Source: Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) FIA Mapmaker

Pasture: Source 2002 USDA Census of Agriculture (www.agcensus.usda.gov)
= (cropland used for pasture and grazing)+(woodland pastured (pastureland other than woodland and cropland)
Crop: Source 2002 USDA Census of Agriculture
= (harvested cropland)+(other cropland)
Other: = total (forest+pasture+crop)
Estimated number of private forestland owners
 = number of privately held acres (FIA Mapmaker) divided by 23 (average amount of forestland owned per private owner)
Number of forestry and wood products establishments and employees
 2005 PA Bureau of Census (www.dli.state.pa.us)
Value of standing timber =  Volume of standing sawtimber in million board feet (FIA Mapmaker) *1000*$281 (average value per thousand board feet (MBF) determined from 2007 Penn State Timber Market Report) http://www.sfr.cas.psu.edu/TMR/TMR.htm
Annual Economic Contribution The amount of value that an industry adds to the product. This information was extracted from the 2002 Pennsylvania data set for the IMPLAN input-output model (Minnesota IMPLAN Group www.implan.com).
