Parking:
Bus and car parking is available. The parking lot is a 1/4 mile from the demonstration area.

Public Access:
Tours are available and are scheduled in advance with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry forester at the park. Schools welcome.

Trail Conditions:French Creek State Park
The trail is clearly marked and the site is located on a slightly rolling hill.

Signage/brochure:
The sections of the demonstration site are clearly marked. A self-guided tour brochure is in development.

History:
The demonstration area is located in the southeastern Pennsylvania. The forest covering the area has changed since Hopewell Furnace began producing iron in the late 1700s. To sustain the furnace operations the area was repeatedly timbered to make charcoal for the large blast furnaces.

Directions:
Take I 76 to exit 22, turn onto Rt. 23 East. Take Rt. 345 North to French Creek State Park. Turn left on S Entrance Rd. Turn right on Park Rd, left on Scott's Run Rd, and left on Fire Tower Road. Go 0.7 of a mile, turn left and park in the lot. Walk 1/4 mile up the road to the demonstration area on right.
