Parking:
Bus and car parking is available on the side of the road.

Public Access:
Group tours are available and are scheduled in advance with Bureau of Forestry district office. Schools welcome.

Trail Conditions:Forbes State Park demonstrates the impact of white tailed deer on tree regeneration.
Visitors can walk along the road and read signs explaining treatments without hiking into the woods.

Signage/brochure:
Numbered interpretative signs identify all stations. Self-guided tour brochures are available in a mailbox in the parking area at start of demonstration area.

History:
The mixed-species hardwood stand began growing around 1910 after being clearcut for timber.

Directions:
Take I 70/76 PA Turnpike to Rt. 219 Johnstown. Turn left onto N Center Ave/PA-601 N and follow 2.6 miles. Merge onto US-219 N toward Johnstown and take seven miles. Take the US-30 exit toward Jennerstown/Stoystown. Take Rt. 30 west approximately 13 miles and turn onto Summit Road at the entrance sign for Laurel Mountain Ski Resort. It will become a dirt road. At the T intersection turn right. Travel approximately two miles and veer left onto Hickory Flats Road. The plots are one mile further on both sides of the road.
