Parking:
Limited parking on the road shoulder under a powerline. The road dead ends with a turn around.

Public Access:
Self-guided tours.

Trail Conditions:
The trail is not well marked and is only occasionally maintained. The trail has a moderate climbs and down hill sections.

The sections of the demonstration site are clearly marked. Self-guided tour brochures are available in a box at the trail entrance.

History:
It is a mixed, species, hardwood forest that probably was cut twice before the 1900s. The timber was harvested to produce charcoal and harvested again for coal mine timbers.

Directions:
The site is north of Harrisburg. From Harrisburg take Rt. 322 north to Dauphin/Stony Creek exit. Turn onto Allegheny St. Turn right on Schuylkill Street. Turn right on Erie Street. At the stop sign turn left on Stony Creek Road and travel 3.4 miles to the site. It is located at the second power line. Park on the side of the road. The trail begins across the road. As you climb the bank, the demonstration site sign will be visible on the right side. The trail begins a few feet above the sign.
