Helping People Make Decisions That Improve Their Well-Being

People make decisions every day that impact natural resource use and management, whether it's a consumer choice (e.g., "Will that be paper or plastic?") or a municipality adopting a forestry ordinance. Too often, people either do not think about their connection to natural resources, or they have insufficient information for making informed decisions.

The Renewable Natural Resources Extension in the School of Forest Resources helps people make informed decisions that improve their own well-being and ensure clean water, viable populations of native wildlife, recreational opportunities, attractive communities, and the sustainable production of wood and paper products. In addition, through 4-H, the Renewable Natural Resources Extension educates youth about ecology and the environment.
